The Back to School Tour Begins

Back
We had a great time last night discussing the unique challenges and promising future of education in Midland! We thank the group of concerned parents, educators, and community leaders for engaging in a candid, fruitful conversation that we can incorporate into our work in Austin.

Some major themes included: the struggle to recruit and retain large numbers of outstanding teachers, the success of innovative models in the community like magnet schools and early college high school, and the growing number of local leaders committed to reversing downward trends in student achievement.

We cannot wait to get more great insight into the nature of your concerns as we travel the state. If you would like to learn more about our work and have your voice heard, join us this evening in El Paso, or in Beaumont on Monday!

We believe every Texas child, regardless of race, ethnicity or zip code, deserves a quality education. You can help make that happen.
