Over 600 Bills Filed in First Four Days

Back
The period to pre-file bills for the 85th convening of the Texas Legislature began Monday, and since then, over 600 bills have been submitted by legislators.

While this proposed legislation accounts for only a small portion of bills that will likely be filed before March 10th (this session’s bill filing deadline), it is an exciting first step!

Texas Aspires is thrilled to see so much interest in public education policy already with almost 100 bills filed relating to education! We look forward to working with with stakeholders and policymakers to make sure the policies passed in the 85th legislative session are oriented around student success.

As longtime education advocate Bill Hammond said yesterday at the Texas Association of Business’¬†K-12 Conference, “education is the most important function of government.” With the fates of over five million students in their hands, our elected officials have their work cut out for them. We’re here to help however we can.
