    Job Description:

    • Execute the board’s vision for the organization
    • Direct report to the Board of Directors through the Chairman
    • Developing & managing a high-quality team of staff and consultants
    • Ensuring financial and legal compliance of the c3 and c4
    • Directing the development and implementation of the organizations’ policy initiatives and advocacy strategy
    • Supervising communications, policy, and advocacy activities
    • Managing financial decisions and budget compliance
    • Organizing the education reform coalition
    • Serving as primary spokesperson and external relations manager
    • Creating and executing an effective fundraising plan
    • Leading lobbyist training, providing clear direction on strategies, and monitoring activities
    • Maintaining a positive, collaborative, and effective organization culture, both internally and externally

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree a must, graduate degree preferred
    • 10 years of professional experience in education, policy, and/or legislative affairs
    • Prior management experience with strong leadership skills
    • Additional requisite skills & characteristics:
      • Alignment and commitment to Texas Aspires’s core values and policy priorities
      • Knowledge of major K-12 education policy issues at both the state and federal level
      • Ability to initiate and lead multiple complex policy and advocacy projects
      • Ability to both analyze education policy and be adept at turning policy ideas into legislative and policy proposals
      • Strategic thinking and outstanding analytical skills
      • Excellent communication and writing skills
